چکیده

Flooding events have been negatively affecting the Republic of Kazakhstan, with higher occurrence in flat parts country during spring snowmelt snow-fed rivers. The current project aims to assess flood hazard reduction capacity Alva irrigation system, which is located interfluve area Yesil and Nura Rivers. assessment performed by simulating floods using HEC-RAS 2D controlling gates existing system. A digital elevation model study domain was generated integration Sentinel-1 radar images data obtained from bathymetrical survey aerial photography. Comparison simulated inundation a remote sensing image April 2019 indicated that main reason for differences due local domain. Exclusion areas flooded snowmelt, were identified updated DEM, comparison increased similarity 70%. Further simulations different exceedance probability hydrographs enabled classification according maximum depth duration. Theoretical changes on dam crest as well additional proposed improve system flooding agriculturally important areas, not simulation developed could be used authorities further development mitigation measures plans

Flood hazard zoning using geographic information system (GIS) and HEC-RAS model (Case study: Rasht City)

Rivers are important water resources for human life, but sometimes cause irreparable damages. The flood plains are fertile terrains which are endangered by flood. Flood hazard mapping is one of the basic methods in flood fighting. In order to decline flood damages, the simulation of the hydraulic behavior of the rivers during flood occurrence is very important. In this study, areas that are flo...

Flood hazard zoning using HEC-RAS in GIS environment and impact of manning roughness coefficient changes on flood zones in Semi-arid climate

Development of rural areas in rivers margins and flood plains, without understanding and attention to the dynamical and hydrological conditions and upstream areas of the rivers will cause to increase flood risk and loss of life and financial. Flood zoning has many applications, in floodplain management. For management of the three major branches of the Halilrood River, Rabor, Roodar and Javaran...

Flood zoning estimation and river management by using HEC-RAS and GIS model

Reliable estimates of river stream fl ow and fl ood zoning maps are needed for water resourcesmanagement such as fl ood mitigation, water supply, dam construction and irrigation. Flood zoning needsaccurate data and is one of the non-structural fl ood management methods. This paper describes theapplication of HEC-RAS and GIS model to determine fl oodplains maps for the part of Sardabrud Rivertha...
